Mercedes Benz Changing Air Filters on Dual Intake V6

Download •This procedure is completed on a 2006 Mercedes C230 (2.5L V6) •Same Procedure applies for these models: •W203 (2001-2007 C-class) V6 petrol models (C230, C240, C320, C350) •W204 (2008+ C-class) V6 petrol models (C300, C350) •W208, W209 (1998+ CLK V6′s) •W211, W212 (2001+ E-class V6′s) •R170, R171 (2001+ SLK V6′s) •W163, W164 (1998+ M-class V6′s) Time Required: 30 -90 min Tool Required: •Screw Driver with a T25 star head. •Rag for cleaning your hands Step 1: Remove Front Engine Cover (grab both sides and pull straight up; see red arrows) Figure 1 -Removing front engine cover Step 2: Remove Intake air box by disconnecting crankcase vent tube and both intake ducts (removing intake ducts may take some effort and twisting). Once the ducts and tubes are disconnected, pull up on the entireintake air box. Optional: If needed remove cabin A/C cabin filter (Figure 1) Step 3: Turn Intake Air Box over and remove the 8 (T25 star head) screws (red arrows in Figure 5) from the intake air filter chambers. Once intake air filters are removed, clean chambers and air box of debris. Step 4 : Replace intake filter with two new intake air filters; or clean and replace intake filters if they are reusable (K&N). Optional: Replace A/C cabin air filter (See Figure 9). ** I recommend K&N intake air filters over Mercedes-Benz filters because they are reusable to a million miles. The Mercedes Benzfilters cost $25-30 USD each and have to be replaced every A & B services; while the K&N’s cost $35-45 USD and they will last the life of the car. You will need the recharger kit (retail $45, eBay $20) in order to clean the dirty filters. With K&N filter the engine will breath better and you will get better gas mileage.
