Removing the stock air inlet system : a) Loosen and remove PCV breather hose from the inlet tube. Loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body. Tools Recommended: Pliers, 10mm Socket. b) Release the harness connector(s) at the ECU by first flipping the retainers up. Then pull up on the harness connectors. c) Remove the three bolts that secure the air box to the vehicle. Remove the air box from the vehicle. Tools Recommended: 10mm Socket. d) Unbolt the four mounting bolts from the ECU to the air box. Tools Recommended: 10mm Socket and Wrench.
Installing the Hyundai Air Intake System : a) When installing the Hyundai Air Intake System, DO NOT completely tighten the hose clamps, heat shield bolts or mounting tab hardware until instructed to do so later in these instructions. Check to see that the inside of the inlet pipes and air filter are clean and free from any foreign objects and/or obstructions. b) Assemble the heat shield as shown. Use the supplied bolts, small washers and the flange nuts. Tools Recommended: 10mm Socket and Wrench. c) Insert the heat shield as shown. Align the three mounting tabs. d) Secure the heat shield by using the three original air box bolts. Tools Recommended: 10mm Socket. e) Attach the vibration mount to the heat shield. Secure it with one large washer and one flange nut. Tools Recommended: 10mm Socket. f) Attach the coupler onto the throttle body. Secure it with a size 40 hose clamp. Tools Recommended: 8mm Nut Driver. g) Install the air filter onto the end of the inlet pipe. Secure it with a size 44 hose clamp. Tools Recommended: 8mm Nut Driver. h) Install the inlet pipe in the engine bay. i) Place the mounting tab on the vibration mount and secure it with a large washer and flange nut. Tools Recommended: 10mm Wrench. j) Secure the breather hose to the inlet pipe with the original spring clamp Tools Recommended: Pliers. k) Reconnect the ECU harness. l) Adjust the inlet pipe, vibration mount and heat shield so that no part of the intake is contacting the vehicle. Be especially mindful of the clearance between the battery and the air filter. Tighten all bolts, hose clamps and flange nuts Tools Recommended: 8mm Nut Driver, 10mm Socket.
Re-Assemble the vehicle. a) Inspect the engine bay for any loose tools and check that all fasteners that were moved or removed are properly tight. b) Re-check clearance and tighten all hose clamps. c) Reconnect negative battery terminal. d) Start engine. Let car idle for 3 minutes. Perform a final inspection before driving the vehicle.
